After his family is brutally murdered, Missouri farmer Josey Wales hunts down the Union soldiers responsible and takes revenge. Now pursued by a relentless pack of soldiers, he tries to keep moving on his own. But as he travels, a group of ragtag outcasts is drawn to him, and Wales finds he cannot abandon people who need his protection.
